RePly Chair

By 10-03-2015

The stackable RePly Chair (2011), designed by Roderick Vos for Dutch manufacturer Bert Plantagie, has been created from several sheets/layers of birch plywood. A unique pressing mould was made in order to realise this chair. Thoughtfull and efficient use of FSC plywood was a guideline for this project.

Roderick: “For me personally, a one-piece chair is the optimum in machine-oriented furniture design. I love ‘simplicity’ when designing products, it has always been a guideline for my work. The legs, seat, and backrest are realised in ‘one production pressing-process’ in order to keep the production costs low.”

De RePly Chair was added to the collection of the New York Museum of Arts and Design.
