Dutch Design Heritage
Rob Parry (1925), designer, teacher

In 1957, Parry and his colleague Emile Truijen designed the red mailbox for the Dutch postal service PTT. These iconic mailboxes have been a part of the Dutch public space for almost 50 years. Parry says: ‘There are few products that have lasted so long as utensils like our mailbox.’ In addition to furniture and industrial products, Rob Parry mostly designed stands and exhibitions, as well as interiors and jewellery. After his collaboration with Truijen, Parry has been working independently until 1995. He was also a teacher of architectural design at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam for thirty years.

The Louis Kalff Instituut is the Dutch heritage centre for industrial design, located in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
