Lego – Adventure in the city

By 15-06-2015

Rogier Wieland graduated in graphic design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in the Hague in 2000. After a few years of working as a graphic designer he began making stop motion animated shorts. LEGO China invited him to come to Shanghai and watch small children play with LEGO Duplo, have short interviews with them, pick ‘the best’ one and make a stop motion animated video based on it.

Rogier: “We picked a boy named Qui Qui. He had made a weird object that turned out to be a house in which a snake lived. When we asked Qui Qui how the snake gets to his house he immediately said: ‘With his rocket!’ We loved that idea and decided to base our story on it. In a world made of LEGO bricks, the snake, who lives in a small house on top of a very high building, discovers a serious threat that approaches the city: a lava-like organism that freezes everything it touches.”
