The Theaterafficheprijs (Theatre Poster Award) was an initiative of Theater Instituut Nederland (Netherlands Theatre Institute). After a short interruption, the Special Collections of the University of Amsterdam, which manages the largest theatre collection of the Netherlands, reinvigorated the Award with support from MullerVisual.
The winner of the MullerVisual Theaterafficheprijs 2013/14 is the poster for the performance ‘Hideous (wo) men’ by theatre group Oostpool. The series of posters for ‘De Pijp in Oorlog’ by Ostade Amsterdam has won the MullerVisual Theaterafficheprijs 2014/2015.
Poster: Hideous (wo)men
Design: Esther Noyons
Photography: Sofie Knijff
From the jury report: “The jury praises the designer for making his own distinctive mark. The badge might put just a bit too much emphasis on this, but the genuine design and the personal typography hold their own.”
Poster: De Pijp in Oorlog
Design: LopezLab (Mariola Lopez)
Photography: Monica Ragazzini
From the jury report: “The inward-looking expression on the children’s faces lends the image something very personal. The projection of the old photos on the clothes of the children unites young and old.”
