SO 2015 award for Linelle Deunk
Linelle Deunk has received the SO 2015 award for her black and white series ‘This world is (not) mine’. SO (Selection Of dutch photography) is a photography contest about the creative personality of the professional photographer.
From over 200 entries, the jury, composed of Carlo Elias Natalia TORET, Eduard Planting, Arjan Benning and Sabine Verschueren, chose the work of Linelle as the winner. The jury admired and praised the use of light in this classic black and white series.
“The combination of portrait and landscape photography works well: in the portraits, Linelle shows the environment where people live and as a viewer you get the feeling that you’ve been there. As a whole, the series has a timeless quality. This is photography born from a long tradition.”
In the portraits she gives individuals in groups a real face, just to show that essentially we are all the same. The series was photographed in Uganda with water as an inspiration.
