Grappa travel flask

By 11-06-2015

Design bureau Scholten & Baijings has designed a travel flask for Nonino, the exclusive, more than 100-year old Italian grappa brand. Inspired by the Dutch painters who in the 16th and 17th century tried to capture the beauty of the grape on canvas, Scholten and Baijings designed five different color series.

Grappa is a distilled Italian alcoholic drink made from the remains of grapes (skins and seeds) left over from winemaking after pressing the grapes. Originally, it was made to prevent these leftovers from going to waste.

The color, texture and sheen of the grape were the inspirational elements for the design of the travel flask. Scholten & Baijings have united artisanal skills, craftsmanship and tradition with high-quality materials and the latest titanium production technology. The flasks owe their color to a unique anodizing technique. They have a removable cup, which makes it possible to have a sip of grappa whilst travelling.

The London-based magazine Wallpaper * has initiated this special collaboration between Nonino Distillers and Scholten & Baijings.
