Wearable Solar

By 27-11-2014

Wearable Solar by Dutch fashion designer Pauline van Dongen is a series of designs that show the integration of flexible solar cells in fashion. Wearable Solar gives you the opportunity to charge your phone off-grid, wherever you are.

Wearable Solar consists of two designs, a coat and a dress made out of wool and leather, which produce sustainable energy through their integrated solar cells. Both garments, when worn in full sun for two hours, can generate enough energy to allow a typical smartphone to be 100% charged. The solar cell compartments can be opened and revealed to the Sun when needed and folded back when they are not being used.

Pauline van Dongen is a fashion designer operates a meticulous research of the behavior of experimental and high-tech materials, combining new technologies with traditional techniques to constantly renovate craftsmanship. She is an expert in the field of wearable technology and is known for her way of combining technology and fashion in a wearable and desirable way.
