What Design Can Do 2015

By 21-05-2015

Last year, The New York Times tipped What Design Can Do as the international place where designers inspire each other to find solutions to social issues. On May 21 and 22, designers like Stefan Sagmeister, Ole Scheeren, Sissel Tolaas, Campana Brothers and Michael Johnson will come to Amsterdam to exchange best practices in the field of social design.

What Design Can Do was founded in 2011 with the aim of bringing the social role of designers to the fore. Among them are designers like Cameron Sinclair, who through Architecture for Humanity uses his design knowledge in disaster areas and poor countries. But there is also attention for the experiential aspects of design: master chef Alex Atala from Brazil and the British ‘experience-designers’ Bompas & Parr will attend the two-day conference and a special event on May 21.

During the film festival organized around What Design Can Do, a design film will be shown every day. In addition, there are numerous break-out sessions with, among other participants, BNO, Getty Images, Adobe, Prins Claus Fonds, Art Directors Club Netherlands, and the art colleges of Rotterdam, Utrecht and Amsterdam.
