Wonder Rooms

By 23-05-2015

Kossmanndejong has developed together with a team of experts and curators, a completely new concept and design for the Wonderkamers (Wonder Rooms) in Gemeentemuseum The Hague. In Wonderkamers, visual art, architecture, fashion, craft and design is made accessible to especially adolescents.

Interactivity is fully integrated into the Wonder Rooms. Visitors can play the ‘museum game’: a physical and virtual three-dimensional game in which they are given the lead as exhibitions makers. Wonderkamers’ floor plan transforms during the game into a spatial and interactive board game. Like real curators, the participants will be tested on their knowledge, creativity, and alertness. With a specially developed tablet in the hand, the ‘Wonder guide’ navigates visitors through the themed rooms. They are challenged, for instance, to dance the Boogie Woogie together with Mondrian, to take part in a fashion show or to make an abstract composition.

At the end of the game they can design one of the virtual mini museum halls for the Miniature Museum.
