One Week About Photography by photographer Ahmet Polet

Andrea Stultiens: “I’m not a photographer. My work is mostly about creating encounters and exchanges.” Andrea works about half of the year in Uganda on various projects such as the Kaddu Wasswa Archives and HIPUganda, and the other half at the Academy MINERVA in Groningen where, among other things, she set up a research group called PRICCAPractice within the lectorate Beeld in Context (Image in Context).

Her work consists mostly of developing knowledge about and around photos within specific contexts. “I question the ways in which photographs function in realities outside my immediate vicinity.” For the exchanges she initiates, she develops shapes which she makes shareable with others.

Andrea is currently working on an addition to The Kaddu Wasswa Archive from 2010. The printing will be done in Uganda, where over the past few decades the protagonist and co-author of the book printed much of his work in runs of 1 or 2. A truly unique aspect is the fact that the local signature will be present in all aspects of the process. The book will consist of a hand-bound combination of riso prints and color copies with a screen print on the cover.
