Boring Raves and Masterly

By 14-04-2016

ONE WEEK ABOUT Dutch Designers in Milan by Connecting the Dots

What The Boring Rave has to do with Masterly? Lensvelt’s indifference carried out to perfection with never-ending quadruple time under stroboscopes is reminiscent of the best raves from the Gashouder in Amsterdam. Clichés to cherish and to which Lensvelt gives a subversive twist. That same Gashouder is the incubator of Masterly. Phenomenal in Amsterdam West and, thanks to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, descended at the lush Palazzo Francesco Turati for the next five years. The entrance is one that Holland likes to behold, tulips as far as the eye can see. Above ground level the most recent work by Bo Reudler for JSPR, playful tubular furniture breaking through the quadruple time of the flower field and turning into sound-proof modular material of Basematters; the prelude to an 18th century cabinet with beautifully filled showrooms. A greater contrast with Lensvelt is not conceivable.
