Trattoria Del Binari

ONE WEEK ABOUT Dutch Designers in Milan by Connecting the Dots

Del Binari, fuel for the design pilgrims
In addition to enjoying the cocktails, all design boys and design girls in Milan need to eat a hot meal, preferably twice a day because in the morning, standing at the bar, you’re having ‘a brioche’ and a caffè with or without a shot of grappa in it; ‘corretto’, that’s what they call it here quite correctly.

To us, Trattoria Del Binari has been unrivalled for years on end: about 400 seats indoors and outdoors under the grapevines are invariably occupied in the afternoon and evening; the perfectly drilled white brigade takes the orders without having to write them down, no matter whether there are two or 10 people seated at the table; the homemade bread is fantastic, the pastas homemade, the meat is tender and soft, the beer cold and the wine is full and round, vegetables are grilled to perfection, even the burger has something unearthly in structure and taste, and then Isola Gallegiante, the heavenly dessert …. Oh well, go taste it yourself and take a look around the spotless open kitchen of less than 9 m2 (!) where a shy female cook rules, ma mama Mia! Incredibile! Complimenti, because goddammit, how does she get this done?!
