Sunne

By 04-03-2021

Sunne is an autonomous, ambient solar light for indoors. It combines sustainability, design and technology.

Sunne is shaped like the horizon, 85 cm in length and hangs in the window by two steel wires. No external plug is needed. It contains solar cells developed together with ECN.TNO, one of the most advanced energy research centres in Europe. It charges during the day, storing the energy in an integrated battery, in order to create an ambient light at night. Sunne has three settings that imitate all the natural moments of the sun; Sunne Rise, Sunne Light and Sunne Set.

Solar energy today is often seen as static and exclusive. Marjan van Aubel Studio creates the light of the future – it’s beautiful, it’s accessible, and it fits within your home. Sunne is the first in a range of solar products to come, that all help to integrate solar energy seamlessly into our daily environment.

Marjan van Aubel is an award-winning Solar Designer from The Netherlands. She aims to change the perspective on solar energy. She sees every surface as an opportunity to harness the sun’s energy, and believes Sunne is how objects should be: self-sufficient and powered by the sun.

Marjan van Aubel Studio is Kickstarting Sunne now to produce the first series of Sunne – a first step towards normalising solar energy within the home: Kickstarter campaign
