Rijksmuseum Collection Online

Fabrique

Digital | Heritage

800,000 high-resolution works of art, 500,000 books and 800 meters of documentation in one place. Collection Online, designed and built by Fabrique, Q42 and the Rijksmuseum, is a new platform that makes the Rijksmuseum’s collection even more accessible. In doing so, the museum is setting a new standard for sharing heritage data.

Everyone a curator: create your own Honor Gallery
Through hundreds of automatically generated theme pages, you step into a treasure trove of art, history and knowledge. The Art Explorer makes an introduction to the collection even more accessible. In this AI-supported new tool, visitors answer stimulating questions. The answers provide unexpected suggestions from the collection and in this way your search never ends.

Visitors can compile personal collections from this rich selection, compare objects and even create their own interactive video clip. In a virtual 360-degree view of the Gallery of Honor, anyone can display a personal selection of masterpieces.

Designed for everyone: from art professional to casual visitor
The main role is given to the big images. We keep the user interface as minimal as possible, making the image speak. To the extreme. On the search result page you enjoy the image first, more context you get on-hover.  The minimal interface offers for the casual visitor simplicity and art viewing without distraction, but for the art professional, who spends more time there, a world of possibilities.
