A new Viewmaster Project in the public space of Maastricht.
‘Time Travellers’ is a remarkable evening exhibition in public space, featuring 13 video works projected from shop windows, galleries, and homes along Maastricht’s Rechtstraat.
Each video takes inspiration from the paintings and sculptures of great artists from the 15th to the 19th centuries. Contemporary video works by internationally renowned artists reference aspects central to classical art, such as composition, colour, light, and visual language. By incorporating ‘time’ and ‘movement’, these traditional ideas are brought to life in new ways.

In Time Travellers, time is accelerated, slowed down, or frozen. The 21st-century videos are not only a tribute to the ideas and iconography of classical masterpieces but also harness new digital techniques to tell compelling stories and address contemporary issues.
Pick up the free exhibition guide and take an evening stroll along enchanting video works that relate both to TEFAF Maastricht and to the many 17th and 18th-century national monuments on the Rechtstraat.

In addition to Time Travellers, Viewmaster Projects presents the sculptural video installation Miss Mosa’s New Office of Aquatic Affairs, projected from the bridge house of the Sint Servaasbrug. Dutch artist Jacco Olivier has created a three-dimensional projection inspired by the flow of the River Meuse, the movements of pedestrians crossing the bridge, and the objects shown at TEFAF.
