Brand New jewellery boxes by Bernard Heesen and Nienke Sikkema for Post Modern Collection.

Bernard Heesen, architect by training and self-taught in the art of glassblowing, plays an ironic game with the modern categories of art and kitsch, craft and industry, original and copy, unique and series, collector and consumer, taste of the elite and taste of the masses.

Nienke Sikkema studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. She creates her work in the Oude Horn, the studio of Bernard Heesen. Her designs are colorful and inspired by what warm glass naturally does.

“Glass is a strange and fascinating material”, says Nienke Sikkema. “When it’s cold it is static, inaccessible and difficult to work with. But with hot glass the possibilities are endless.”

Post Modern Collection
Post Modern Collection inspires people to enrich their lives by acquiring unique art pieces, created by great artists. They believe anyone should have the opportunity to collect high-quality modern art. Their concept makes it possible for everyone to start their own private collection.

Instead of producing large-scale and therefore costly works, they invite artists and designers to tell their story through small-scale pieces, made exclusively for the Post Modern Collection. The result is a growing collection of unique, handmade, affordable, small masterpieces.
