From 18 to 26 October, Eindhoven will host the 25 edition of Dutch Design Week. This week, Dutch Design Daily presents a number of highlights, today Red Box.
Design goes beyond form and function: it shapes how we see one another, how we move through public space, and how equally we can participate in society. At the heart of Dutch Design Week 2025, Red Box demonstrates how design, as a cultural force, can drive social change. The exhibition invites visitors to experience, reflect, and be inspired by what design can mean for women.

The urgency is clear. In a time when in the Netherlands nearly every week a woman is killed by femicide, and women reclaim public space through actions such as The Night Belongs to Us, the call for change is growing louder. Design plays a crucial role in this: it impacts our safety, autonomy, and representation on a daily basis. Breaking through entrenched patterns therefore requires not only policy, but also new imaginaries that show how things can be different.
Red Box creates that space. The exhibition and public program bring together designers who explore alternative systems and new perspectives through their work. Offices, products, and public spaces often reflect design choices that affect the lives of women, sometimes invisibly. Their projects invite everyone, regardless of gender, to be inspired and to critically question existing structures and assumptions. The aim is precisely that the content sparks new insights for all visitors, raising awareness and encouraging change. Red Box is not conceived as a one-off intervention: the intention is to continue building beyond 2025, ensuring that design remains socially relevant and transformative.

The Red Box exhibition brings together designers and organizations who show that good design can make a difference. The show features work by creators such as Affect Lab, Breag, Bridea Medical, Carolina Pérez-Moreno, Charis Stephanie, Charli de Wit, Early Warning Scan, Exy, Huis van Betekenis, Ismay Schaduw, Milc, Noa Smolenaars, Rosanne Martens and Anna Musch, Sammie van Dok, Sanne de Wit, and Social Label. In addition, the program offers workshops, talks, film screenings, a book launch, and networking events, addressing themes such as health and sexual autonomy, space and power, work and commons, representation and language, and products.

As main sponsor of Red Box, Stoov recognizes that women’s wellbeing needs change throughout the month. That is why their warmables are designed to provide comfort, warmth, and relief, helping with, for example, the cold at the office, menstrual pain, muscle recovery, and overall wellbeing. During Dutch Design Week 2025, Stoov invites visitors to experience how their warmables not only bring comfort but also contribute to a broader conversation about inclusive warmth.
The program is further made possible by Stichting Stokroos and is supported by Soroptimistclub Eindhoven with a lecture and tour. It also features The Oh Collective & ERIKALUST, pioneers of feminist erotic cinema, who present the limited-edition Date Night Bonbons for a multisensory pleasure ritual. At Vaasje Vals, you can write a message on a card that can be taken along with a flower, and The Social Hub acts as the host of the Red Box paneltalk.
Material partners include Desso Tarkett, who provide the circular carpet Solid & Shape designed by Studio Stefan Scholten, Studio Mo Man Tai, which supplies colorful curtains, and Karel Bodegom, who created a reception desk entirely made of felt.
The curatorial team is formed by Katja Lucas, Wisse Trooster and Alieke Geerts.
