Mienke Simon Thomas

Mienke Simon Thomas (1954) once started studying at the AIVE (predecessor Design Academy). She then studied art and design history in Utrecht. From 1993, she worked as curator at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen until her retirement in 2022. There she curated the exhibitions Hand Made (2013), Design Derby Netherlands Belgium (2015) and Netherlands<>Bauhaus (2019), among others. She wrote the handbook Goed in Vorm. 100 years of design in the Netherlands (Dutch Design. A History). As a board member of the Leidse Deken Foundation, she is now researching the blanket industry in Leiden.
