DDW 2020 – Almost Tomorrow
During Dutch Design Week 2020, Dutch Design Daily shows a live activity on location every day, today the exhibition Almost Tomorrow by Kiki & Joost.
“This year is set to be different because we all had time to pause and consider the tomorrow we want. The tomorrow we want is made by strong local communities. This is why we are opening the doors of our studio during Dutch Design Week 2020 in Eindhoven to small and selected groups of people. We will do it safely, focusing on the experience.”
“We will share with you intimate and special moments of exchange where you can see our creative practice up close and take a peek behind the scenes. We are proud to exhibit what fuelled our creativity and kept us sane, while respectfully acknowledging the moment we are living in.”
“Kiki and Saint-Louis Crystal, a French historical manufacturer, have a long relationship. They will showcase Matrice, their latest collaboration in which craftsmanship and experimentation inform each other. Fresh from the collaboration between MOOOI and Joost, the Dutch company will present the new Tinkering Lamp in the space where it was conceived.”
“The relationship between hands and clay is the basis of the ceramic art form. Totems, produced together with Cor Unum, are an expression of dedication to this form of art. Diving into her extensive textile archives Kiki has been working with texture, patterns and fabrics, composing evocative collages.
“Joost and Kiki have translated personal drawings in a joyful and fresh collection of carpets for MOOOI. Free and yet constructivist sketches have led Joost to work with sheets of metal and build never seen wall lights. Imaginings, the new book by Kiki, published by nai010, will also be launched.
