In May 2015, the new way of building a contemporary industrial cultural urban site started on Tramkade in the Spoorzone of Den Bosch. Soon the first activities for young audiences followed such as a club with weekly dance evenings and various events (from urban battles, spoken word, performances, to festivals, the pink restaurant and the Social label Lab for design with meaning: everyone is allowed to be there and participate). At the
Werkwarenhuis on Tramkade you will never find the same situation, an ongoing-design-doing project in which inclusiveness and social sustainability come first. Where as a visitor you get explanations or can be part of. We create a contemporary place to work out issues from society, to make them visible, but also to facilitate life and ‘being’. The Werkwarenhuis is a Gesamtkunstwerk.
Initiators are Petra Janssen, Edwin Vollebergh, Studio Boot & Simone Kramer C-mone together with designers, builders and people with fewer opportunities.
The Werkwarenhuis cooperates with tenants of the ateliers in the building. Among these Geert Snijders Design, Iris Toonen studio, Does design, Autograph and studio Turbo.
Designers who have their studio in the Werkwarenhuis are Detlet Lab, No More Mondays, Mella Makerij, Autograph, Jessica den Hartog and Don Blaauw.
