Six costume designers working in the performing arts were commissioned by Het Wilde Oog to make a costume: Aziz Bekkaoui, Lisanne Bovée/Jan Koelewijn, Petra Bresser, Linda Eijssen/Sam van den Bosch, Dorien de Jonge, Mirjam Pater. A costume that takes a Spakenburg technique from fishing and traditional costume as its starting point: tanning, fining, stiffening and calendering.

The material results are worn by 18 men from 3 domains:
– Professional theater makers on a national level: from Gerardjan Rijnders to Marcel Musters. An ode to trailblazers for innovative theater.
– Culture-determinators at the local level: from film programmer and policy officer for culture to graffiti artist.
– Refugees from Yemen, Syria, Iran and other countries. An example of assimilation through art.

This results in a series of surprising photographs. Het Wilde Oog wishes to stimulate looking across borders. The world of Spakenburg’s heritage, that of costume design and that of art icons such as Pina Bausch and Joseph Beuys slide in and over each other. Cultural richness forms the result.

Results of the project can be seen in 2022 in Stadsschouwburg Utrecht, OBA Amsterdam, De Volmolen Amersfoort, Festival Spoffin Amersfoort, Gemeentehuis Bunschoten-Spakenburg.

Het Wilde Oog consists of theater makers Hans Lemmerman and Inge van Run.
