Dealing with plastic differently, it can be done and should be done
Plastic is considered to be a cheap material, and that is why we easily throw it away. With all its consequences. High time to look at plastic differently and deal with it in different ways. Hence the title ‘Rethinking Plastic’. Designing differently with the world’s most berated material, shown in the stimulating exhibition at Yksi Expo. Furthermore, it is the start of a two year long program at Yksi Expo, revolving around the topic plastic in all its aspects.
Peter van de Water | Bloom
A circular design that transforms plastic waste into elegant and playful in- and outdoor seating. The Bloom chair is a rotation moulded plastic lounge chair, created from Low-Density PolyEthylene (LDPE) – a plastic that can be infinitely melted down and reused. It is fully recyclable & 100% circular. Its low melting temperature means its ecological impact is greatly reduced during the production phase.
PyraSied Xtreme Acrylic | Together we make plexiglass circular!
As a forerunner in the field of recycled plexiglass, PyraSied is committed to keeping plexiglass circular. You can make new material from used plexiglass without losing quality. Because you can continue recycling it, you can use plexiglass over and over again. PyraSied sells various types of recycled plexiglass sheets and tubes and is also actively committed to retrieving waste and used plexiglass. This way we close the circle and keep plexiglass circular! Will you join us?
Studio laVina | Krapiva Zhguchaya (Stinging Nettle)
Household items made from stinging nettle. Using the whole plant: leaves, fibers, pigments and stem. Polina Baikina (Studio laVina) did this project during her graduation from the Design Academy Eindhoven (2019) in collaboration with Varvara Lazareva.
