Young Designer Bob Hendrikx
Dutch Design Awards (DDA) has been leading in the interpretation of excellent Dutch design for years. The aim of the organisation goes beyond simply rewarding the best design: DDA wants Dutch design to be part of a larger conversation.
DDA nomination Young Designer
Bob Hendrikx is an inventor, architect and bio-designer who strives to restore the parasitic relationship between humanity and its surroundings by exploring a living world. Working together with nature and a world in which our every-day objects come to life are important factors in his work. From a living coffin that transforms people into plant food, to a growing house. Bob was named person of the year 2020 by VICE Media. It is his ambition to push the boundaries of the human imagination by turning science fiction into science reality and working together with living organisms.
Bob Hendrikx is a bold, practical designer who presents clear, sustainable solutions for the future in an accessible way. His portfolio is impressive for a designer who graduated in 2019; it includes mature, professionally executed projects. Bob Hendrikx is an entrepreneurial designer, who manages to bring together all aspects of the process with power and action, from initial research to development, technique, production and marketing. His projects demonstrate vision and cohesion, and he cleverly manages to combine the speculative with the executable.
