Thijs Asselbergs (1956) is an architect. He was a co-founder and editor-in-chief of the design magazine Items. He is a leading figure in the development of ‘the new architect’ and has realized numerous residential complexes in various cities. His project Space for the River Waal (Ruimte voor de WaaL) in Nijmegen earned his team the Gulden Feniks award, and TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht won the Rietveld Prize. He served as the head of the Department of Architecture at the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture, City Architect of Haarlem, Chairman of Archiprix, and until recently, was a Professor at TU Delft’s Faculty of Architecture in the Built Environment.
