Ruby Soho proudly presents After Forever, a solo exhibition by Rutger Paulusse and a tribute to his work and life. Artist and designer Paulusse passed away in November 2025 at the age of 42.
After a successful career as a graphic and 3D designer, working both domestically and internationally for brands such as Adobe, BMW, Google, and Oppo, he made a radical change. In recent years, his focus has been on autonomous work in the form of airbrushed and screen-printed acrylic panels. They are the end result of the perfect crystallization of craftsmanship, knowledge, and aesthetics.

The layered compositions on transparent acrylic reveal the tension between graphic precision and organic blurring. They are experiments with geometric shapes, color gradients, soft textures, light, and space. The abstract and minimalist work is both two-dimensional and three-dimensional, creating a new spectrum. The brightly colored, intriguing objects float between image and surface.
Paulusse’s graffiti is also given ample attention with photos of his pieces and travels. In contrast to his colorful acrylics, his graffiti is black and white, as Paulusse himself said: “You can see how well I’m doing by my use of color.” Writing under the name After, graffiti was something that allowed him to return to his roots and remained a major part of Paulusse’s practice until his death.

In addition to Paulusse’s work, After Forever presents work by artists who were friends with Rutger, who knew him, hung out with him, and most importantly, were inspired by him. Participating artists A-Z: Anne van den Berg, ATTAK, Autograph, Calango, Eric Smilde, Geert van Hooff, Glazy, Guido de Boer, Hans Schuttenbeld, HMX, Ivo Brouwer, Jake, Jeroen Erosie, Karan Singh, Max Rovers, Mink Couteaux, Ralf Resuk, Ralph Roelse, Réal, Rik Oostenbroek, Timo Kuilder, Tom Bogman, Vincent de Boer.
