While studying graphic design at the Royal College of Art in London, Andrew Fallon spent the summer of 1969 in the Netherlands on an internship at Total Design. This turned out to be a highly successful intermezzo that resulted in a full-time job there. A few years later he set up as an independent graphic designer, leading to a fruitful partnership with Hans Versteeg. Then Tel Design asked him to join them, an offer he could hardly resist. It was when heavyweights Gert Dumbar and Jan Lucassen pulled out, that Andrew was left to pick up the pieces, yet he went on to re-establish the company’s fine reputation. He spent 24 years at Tel Design, but on turning 50, he’d had enough and chose for the creative challenges of independent design consultancy. At around that time he took over the presidency of NAGO (Netherlands Graphic Design Archive) from Ben Bos. As an Englishman who just happened to set foot in the Netherlands, Andrew Fallon certainly made his mark here, with some of his international graphic design works still going strong.

Dutch Graphic Roots is a series of online publications and aims at generating attention to the roots of Dutch graphic design culture.
