ARCHITECT@WORK Rotterdam 2024

ARCHITECT@WORK

Architecture | Event | International | Material

At ARCHITECT@WORK, taking place on September 11 and 12 at Rotterdam Ahoy, the theme ‘Super Skin’ puts an extra focus on high-quality finishes for facades and interiors.

ARCHITECT@WORK is alternately organized in Amsterdam and Rotterdam. After last year’s edition at the Hembrugterrein, ARCHITECT@WORK now returns to Ahoy Rotterdam for its tenth edition there.

Super Skins
With the theme ‘Super Skin’, they focus on the use of high-quality, innovative and sustainable materials that meet the highest requirements of the specifier. The theme is also reflected in the talks program curated by Architectenweb, in the material exhibition by MaterialDistrict, in the photo exhibition by Dutch Architecture Photographers (DAPh) and in the project exhibition by World-Architects.com.

As in previous editions, two hundred exhibitors are again presenting their novelties. Among many exhibitors, ‘super skins’ can be found: from particularly durable façade claddings to interior finishes with exceptional performance.

Speakers
On the first day, Wednesday, September 11, architect Dirk Somers from Bovenbouw will speak about his relationship with façades. He will do so using historical examples and contemporary projects.

On the second day, Thursday, September 12, architect Caro van de Venne from Nudus will talk about how circularity plays an increasingly significant role in their work. For example, in the renovation and expansion of the Palace of Justice in The Hague, the existing natural stone façade panels are removed, processed with a waterjet, and then reinstalled in a different way. The glass in the façade is also reused in the new glass for the courthouse.

Other speakers are landscape architect Marjan Ketner (Copijn Landscape Architects), architect Jan Nauta (Studio Nauta), architect Ron Bakker (PLP Architecture), and architect Don Murphy (VMX Architects).
