Theo Barten
Theo Barten (born 1948) worked as an employed designer for several years. In 1978 he established himself as an independent illustrator and creator of data visualizations. The work he subsequently produced for a large number of clients over 45 years can be found in books, magazines and newspapers alike and finds wide appreciation. He received the Infographics Annual Award in 2000, an initiative of the BNO and the Algemeen Dagblad. As one of the first Dutch illustrators, he made use of the possibilities of the computer and combined them with his more traditional working method.

The versatile application of techniques characterizes his commissioned work. In 2022 he returned to his earlier clear line period with a series of drawings published under the title Basic Lines – Architecture with a Twist.
