From 18 to 26 October, Eindhoven will host the 25 edition of Dutch Design Week. This week, Dutch Design Daily presents a number of highlights, today the exhibition HOW&WOW of Crafts Council Nederland.
During Dutch Design Week 2025, Crafts Council Nederland showcases the work of talented makers across a wide range of craft disciplines. From bronze casting to knitting and from woodturning to glassblowing: these makers have spent many years mastering their techniques and practices, becoming experts.

HOW&WOW
Though craft makers often work autonomously, their work is rarely the result of purely individual effort. Makers learn from each other and exchange materials and techniques. Their practice connects them with contemporary peers, as well as with makers from past and future generations. Craft makers safeguard and renew knowledge that has been built up over many centuries – knowledge for which formal education often no longer exists today.
Craft makers are also in continuous dialogue with material. They conduct thorough research into the origins and capacities of materials, pushing the limits of what these can do. In doing so, makers engage with current questions, such as how local materials and craft techniques can contribute to a more sustainable future.
Craft renews the bonds between people, materials, and landscapes, resulting in unique objects made with respect for their surroundings, in which the presence of the human hand is evident. Objects that surprise, stir the senses, and spark curiosity – and that invite reflection on our relationship with the world around us.

Hosted by Crafts Council Nederland
Crafts Council Nederland is the Netherlands’ platform for creative craft. Through community building, research, knowledge sharing, and inspiring presentations, we support makers and innovate craft techniques. The Crafts Council Nederland website features the Craftsmap, a digital map that increases the visibility of outstanding makers and encourages collaboration.
