DDW25 - Sectie C

From 18 to 26 October, Eindhoven will host the 25 edition of Dutch Design Week. This week, Dutch Design Daily presents a number of highlights, today Sectie-C with Studio Thier & van Daalen, Job’s Playground, Material Girls and When Water Gathers.

Sectie C will reopen its doors during Dutch Design Week 2025. With the theme Right of Way, Sectie C explores the value of shared space.

Studio Thier & van Daalen
Studio Thier & van Daalen explores the fascinating interplay between light and material. During Dutch Design Week, they open the doors to their studio to present a new collection of lights, including the BLOOM and Ribbon wall light, where light, color, and form merge into locally crafted design. Inspired by nature, they create poetic light fixtures with a focus on craftsmanship, wellbeing, and colour.

Job’s Playground
An atelier filled with stories, models, prototypes, products and objects. In this organized chaos Job van den Berg presents a series of upcycled lamps from discarded FREITAG store interiors. Former pegboards and hooks that served for many years have been transformed into new items with new purpose, perfectly embodying the principle: Waste is a design error. In addition to the lamps, Job is also presenting the limited edition Crushed Freitag Trucks.

Material Girls
The debut exhibition of this newly formed collective consisting of four young designers; Sien Entius, Carys Higgins, Nell Maher and Martha Nash. Visitors are invited into a living room where all the elements, from the walls to the floor, are carefully crafted. Together we explore the potential of materials to embrace playfulness, intuition, and collaboration, as we explore what it means to create a space together.

When Water Gathers – The Pool
It all starts with a drop. Falling, flowing, gathering, until it pools. When Water Gathers transforms The Pool at Sectie-C into a space of convergence, where designers from Eindhoven and beyond come together to share, connect, and create.
