Renee Mennen and Stefanie van Keijsteren operate as a duo because they want to be able to have continuous brain-storming sessions and push each other to the extreme. This is how the twist in many of their designs comes about.
Renee: “We always do our own thing, and yet, we always seek cooperation. We find spontaneity important, but we carry out extensive research before we start working, and we do like exploring the boundaries.”
Stefanie: “We started in 2008, and since then we have worked together with Desso, Cor Unum, the Zuiderzeemuseum, the Texielmuseum and Lynfabrikken. We followed our hearts with ROOD, a research into the meanings and possible applications of this specific color with its strong emotional value in a wide variety of areas.”
The studio of rENs is located in Eindhoven, on the premises of Piet Hein Eek.
