ONE WEEK ABOUT Driving Dutch Design by curators Patrick Aarts Sen (BNO) and Katja Lucas (DDF). Over the next few days, we show the Drivers of 2024, Jasper van ’t Wel is one of them.
Jasper van ’t Wel (1997) is a creative inventor and product designer from the Netherlands. Jasper leverages his problem-solving skills to create solutions for a better world. This is exemplified in his campaign “A bag with bags”, where he addressed the issue of accumulating shopping bags. Additionally, he assists online retailers in evolving from white-label products to high-quality product lines. Notably, in 2023, he designed ten products for the brand Barista-Essentials, which are now sold globally.
Jasper van ’t Wel launched his design studio, Studio Jawel, shortly after graduating in Industrial Product Design (2019) from the Arnhem and Nijmegen University of Applied Sciences. During this time, he collaborated with an entrepreneur seeking a solution for a sports-related challenge. Jasper developed a water system that enabled the entrepreneur to raise one million euros on the TV show Dragons’ Den.
After five years of entrepreneurship, Jasper van ’t Wel has been selected for the Driving Dutch Design program.
Driving Dutch Design is the professionalisation and networking programme of Beroepsorganisatie Nederlandse Ontwerpers (BNO), Dutch Design Foundation (DDF) and Stichting Stokroos that helps talented designers get started in the world of entrepreneurship.
