Experimenting With Light

Fleur Peters

Spatial | Material

Fleur Peters, product design graduate from Rotterdam, is fascinated by light and colour, which she translates into glasswork in which she investigates the relationship between craftsmanship and contemporary design.

Light Conductors is an on-going material research into light and colour in glass, intending to conserve traditional glass techniques. Peters experiments with screen printing, engraving and painting on glass and laminates this like safety glass.

The project Shape Series is a response to this material research. These glass objects are scale models designed for an as yet unrealized design of a pavilion for Rotterdam Central Station. With the scale models she experimented with the visibility of light, reflections, and mixing colour. The reflections of the public seating installation change during the day.

Fleur Peters: “I use the sun as a source to create moments of wonder and wellbeing. I enhance the effects of the sun to show something that is not always noticed but brings us moments of joy.”
