Studio Lenneke Wispelwey celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2023. To mark this occasion, a special exhibition will take place at Museum Arnhem. Studio Lenneke Wispelwey – Fragile Opulence offers an overview of Wispelwey’s work.

Additionally, she has curated a selection from the museum’s collection, featuring artworks that have captured her heart. Step into Wispelwey’s wondrous world, showcasing ceramics, drawings, paintings, and more. The exhibition is reminiscent of a china cabinet in someone’s home, with all the special treasures gathered together. In addition, brand new work is on display, created especially for this exhibition.

Lenneke Wispelwey: “As an Arnhem artist, I am extremely proud that my exhibition, in which I place my work next to special pieces from the collection of Museum Arnhem, has been enthusiastically received. In this way I can show what fascinates me and how I work as a designer. Perhaps very surprisingly: from association and aesthetics I bring, consciously or unconsciously, an ode to my greatest source of inspiration: my grandmother. With my work, I hope to create timeless, enduring objects that will be passed down as heirlooms for generations to come and can always have new meaning. Every piece in the exhibition bears this out, including the new works I created especially for this purpose. I invite everyone to look at the beauty of the traditional, the everyday and the new through my eyes, and I hope people will be inspired by the stories behind my work and all these collected treasures.”
