During GLUE Amsterdam 2025, the work of Mina Abouzahra, Barbara Broekman and Tjitske Storm will be on display at Hub Hotel Arena.

Mina Abouzahra
Mina Abouzahra‘s artworks, interior designs, and furniture pieces represent a harmonious blend of Moroccan craftsmanship and Dutch Design, serving as a tribute to cultural heritage. Abouzahra collaborates with a weaving cooperative in rural Morocco, striving to provide its female artisans with both a platform and fair compensation for their skills.

Abouzahra sheds light on the challenges encountered by Moroccan weavers, sparking discussions about the true value of their craft. She collaborates with renowned designers and artisans to bridge the gap between tradition and innovation, breathing new life into age-old techniques.

Barbara Broekman
Barbara Broekman creates monumental artworks based on textile patterns and techniques. In her work she examines the relation between art, textiles and universal human themes such as love, loss, repression and conflict.

Her work places the personal experience in a larger context. Dazzling compositions zoom in and out on life, from micro level to the entire universe. Her work is always related to the world around her, in subject as well as working methods, and transcends the boundaries between autonomous and applied art. Time consuming processes as well as a close collaboration with clients and specialised craftsmen are an essential part of her work. Broekman was trained in textile art at the Rietveld Academy and the

Tjitske Storm – Human Nature
Human Nature is an ongoing series inspired by the all-encompassing force of evolution and its emotional reciprocity. Woven stories wherein the rich natural world fluently intertwines with complex human behaviour. Born from Tjitske Storm’s  fascination for psychological, cultural and societal patterns, I explore the (mytho) logical roots of these behaviours within nature itself.

Tjitske Storm collected and selected around 200 images for each work. She cut-out, re-colored, adjusted and merged various elements of these images to create the blossoming composition. Thereafter she translated the complex multi-layered digital artwork to Jacquard-fabric by implementing various weaving techniques while keeping in mind the Jacquard weaving method built up from eight colors only.
