In 2012, designer duo Kok Pistolet from The Hague developed a communication style for Het Nutshuis in The Hague. In this communication style, Kok Pistolet has replaced the letter s in the existing logo by a question mark.
This allows for an ongoing reflection on the own program. In addition, it underlines the concept of Het Nut, which used to be a 19th century citizens’ initiative striving for the ‘development and upliftment of the common man’. Not only in socio-economic but also in cultural terms.
Het Nutshuis still feels an affinity with this concept. Several times a week, debates, seminars, talk shows, film programs and experimental sound and art performances place in the halls of Het Nutshuis.
The posters that Kok Pistolet creates monthly for Het Nutshuis have become a household name in the city center of The Hague. In these posters, the designer duo expresses, in a second layer, across the entire program, off the cuff and often unsolicited, their views on the program of The Nutshuis or on current events in society.
