HOMO FABER – Rutger de Regt

The Millen House

Exhibition | Product | Craft | Material

Rutger de Regt’s first Dutch solo exhibition, presented by Amsterdam-based gallery and project space The Millen House. The exhibition, titled ‘HOMO FABER’, runs from 25 July to 25 August and showcases De Regt’s diverse works of the past 12 years.

Multi-disciplinary designer Rutger de Regt is a maker, a modern craftsman whose urge for creation has led to a highly individual body of work. Driven by an intuitive approach, De Regt works in a vast range of materials, exploring different techniques and mediums by constantly pushing the limits of design. His well-received collection “Mommy I Made an Ashtray” explores the possibilities of the traditional medium of clay in an intuitive and unconventional way. His latest series “Carbon Extraction”, made from yellow kevlar and white concrete, recreates an artificial landscape inspired by all things we extract, store, and deposit into the earth, illustrating the slow but steady replacement of crust materials by synthetic materials.

The show gives an overview of his work of the last years in a vast array of household objects: from planters, tables, and mirrors to monumental tables and even a dog house.

On 23 & 24 August, young collective Supper will host a specially curated dinner at the exhibition. Guests will sit on special chairs and table that Rutger makes especially for this moment and then launches. More info to follow on the website.
