Martijn Van de Griendt captures our rapidly changing Western society in thematic series. For twenty years now, he has been photographing young people all over the world. You can say that in the meantime this theme has become a ‘specialty’. In 2014 the series resulted in a solo exhibition at the Rotterdam Kunsthal and the related photo book: Forever Young. Martijn van de Griendt started making photographs when he was fourteen years old. His interest in documentary photography was aroused at the School for Journalism in Utrecht. This was followed by a course at the KABK (Royal Academy of Art The Hague).
Photo book ‘Ik ben Zeventien’ (I am seventeen)
In the meantime Martijn has created eight photo books, of which the book ‘Ik ben Zeventien’ (on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the book ‘Wij zijn 17’ by Johan van der Keuken) appeared in May 2016. Martijn often keeps working on a project for several years, which implies that he often works on multiple projects simultaneously.
