Last Sunday, the 28th, the Illustration Market, run by Bob Mollema, took place in Vogelfrei, Utrecht. From 11:00 to 17:00, it was a resounding success, with people drawn in by visual stimuli and engaging conversations with a diverse range of creators.
The highly talented photographer Ian Geurts, also known as Mortus, moved through the crowd like a discreet lizard, capturing some beautiful moments.

There were many things to see, including linocuts, screen prints, etchings, tapestries, water bottles, original drawings, and a wide range of merchandise. It was also an opportunity for the illustrators to connect with their community, a group they usually only interact with on social media. It is terrific how human interactions are brought to life in the real world at this market. It is a discovery market, but also for connection.
If you missed this edition, here’s something to put in your diary: there will be another illustration market on 8 November, but this time in De Utrechter! Just like last time in Vogelfrei, the line-up will be excellent.
