It’s Dutch Design by filmmaker Elbe Stevens is a 60-minute documentary about the worldwide success of Dutch Design. . Top Designers and international keyplayers reveal their personal vision and explain why a small country could become so big in the field of Design. The history is told with iconic Dutch Design examples, spanning more than 100 years.

Dutch Design has a rock-solid reputation all over the world. The documentary looks at the origins of Dutch Design, the definition of Dutch Design, its international success, and what is typically Dutch about this design style. World-famous designers such as Maarten Baas, Tejo Remy, Christien Meindertsma and Nacho Carbonell are interviewed, as well as new talent, foreign collectors, curators, gallery owners and other experts in the field of Dutch Design. Herman Pleij interprets the Dutch national character and places the design movement in a cultural-scientific perspective. Not only conceptual design, but also applied design is discussed. The result is a comprehensive document that will appeal to viewers at home and abroad with an interest in design and lifestyle.

The documentary was made in cooperation with partners such as Cube Design Museum (Kerkrade), Cooper – Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum (New York), het Nederlands consulaat in Milaan, BNO, Pictoright and the Limburgs Filmfonds.
