ONE WEEK ABOUT Kaboom Animation Festival

The annual Kaboom Animation Festival – this year from 21 to 30 March in Utrecht, Amsterdam and online – presents the latest, most creative, innovative and daring (inter)national animation productions. Over the next few days, we show some of the Dutch participants, today Wiep Teeuwisse.

Wiep Teeuwisse
Wiep Teeuwisse (born 1993) is a director based in Rotterdam. She graduated with a Bachelor in Animation from HKU in 2015 and completed a Master in Directing Animation in 2021 at the National Film and Television School in London. Her graduation film ‘Depart at 22’ won the Cristal for Best Graduation Film at the Annecy Festival. Her debut film ‘Intermission Expedition’ toured more than 70 film festivals.

Wiep directs and animates autonomous work using various analog techniques, from drawn animation on paper to stop-motion, and loves to create a world in each film with its own unique atmosphere and narrative form. Wiep is part of Tinsel studio: the animation lovechild she shares with directors Nienke Deutz and Alice Saey. The short stop-motion musical “The Renegades” is their first production.
