On September 27 and 28, Huize Le Manoir in Wassenaar opened its doors for the very first edition of Madness Art&Design Exhibition. For two days, visitors could enjoy the finest vintage treasures from distinctive fashion periods, admire art by young, emerging talents and beautiful vinyl records will be played. ‘Madness’ is a unique event that offers an extraordinary confluence of contemporary art and the irresistible charm of vinyl and vintage fashion.
The Madness Art Area on the lawn in the house’s garden is bursting with multi-talented artists such as Alexandre Delasalle (DDA, 2022) with his Plush Garden, Rotterdam architecture firm The New Raw, Hanne Arends with her “Freddy Marbic” inflatable chair – which is made of Carrara marble, but appears to be made of plastic – and there is also, for example, a collab on display by Lensvelt with Maarten Baas and Walter van Beirendonck.
The Garden House features photo art by photographers Madeline Swainhart (Motherhood, 2020), Eduard Nijgh (EXPIRED, 2023) and paintings by The Hague artist Titus Bovenberg. Madness Art Movies features films by young talents, such as the graduation film by Nelly Dansen (KABK’2023) called “Head Over Heels,” Jemima de Jonge (KABK’2023) with “A Body Of Water” and Fré Calms with several poems recited by his own avatar.
