Maria Hees (1948), jewellery designer

Maria Hees graduated from the Metal and Plastics department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Arnhem in 1979, where she was taught by Gijs Bakker, Joep Sterman and others. Her jewellery is characterised by the use of ‘ordinary’ (non-precious) materials, such as the ‘Garden Hose Bracelet’, which was sold in a modified form by the Bijenkorf. In addition to jewellery, Hees also designs bags. Since 1979, she has regularly participated in individual and group exhibitions in the Netherlands and abroad. Her work is included in several museum collections.
