With his objects, Jelle Mastenbroek stimulates the viewers to reconsider the stereotype and find out whether it could be given a new meaning. As he tells his story with humor and approaches it positively, his designs can serve as reflections of social context or even bring about change.
Money Socks
Depositing money in the bank is no longer as safe as we once thought. My grandmother had a solution: a sock under the mattress. This piggy bank makes saving money fun again, and secure. Every time you throw a coin in, you’ll hear a short tune after which the coin is collected in the good old sock.
