Eigen Schuld

“For centuries, tapestries have been used as a narrative form to interpret social and political developments. I am doing the same with my project ‘Eigen Schuld’ (Own Debt). The tapestry symbolises the life of a student with a student debt. The amount of my own student debt determines the selling price of the tapestry (€46,530.34, October 2021). With this amount, I am linking the financial reality to the physical reality of the tapestry and thus want to increase awareness of student debt and the social loan system.”

“Professional struggler, tiny do-gooder, quasi-intellectual and right-handed. I am an image maker who works from his own interests, experience and environment, but also reads the newspaper every now and then. That is why, as an Illustrator, I am able to translate personal and social aspects of life into images. I would describe my work as rhythmic, lively, narrative and communicative. From time to time I also criticize things a bit. Light, but serious.”
