Michiel Schuurman: “The reason why I like designing posters is actually because it is the only medium whereby I am pulling the strings from start to finish. I design, print, and sell my own posters.”
“Especially printing is important to me. I usually work with no more than three colors and I always try to have the entire run (100 copies) printed in one day. Each additional color means 100 extra print operations. This has major consequences for my designs. It is quite a puzzle to identify all surfaces that have to be printed on top of each other. That’s what I like. Therefore, my designs are often primarily about color.”
“It is also not without importance that I always demand my clients to give me full artistic freedom. They have no say whatsoever about the design and often enough see it for the first time when it’s printed and delivered. To my surprise I must confess that things have never gone wrong.”
