During Dutch Design Week Eindhoven, Red Box will present an exhibition and public programme at Aera 51 on Strijp S, exploring how design can strengthen the position of women in society. Red Box shows how design choices influence women’s daily lives and how design can contribute to an inclusive world.

Carolina Pérez-Moreno is one of the participants in the Red Box.

Reclaiming Her explores the relationship between women, our bodies, and womanhood. Reflecting on our collective experiences through a photo archive and body jewelry collection. It invites introspection and empathy to explore how acceptance and kindness can reshape how we live in our bodies.

The body jewelry collection
At its core is a jewelry collection that challenges conventional norms of femininity. Each piece highlights areas often labeled as “imperfections”—the belly, back, thighs, breasts—and reframes them as sites of power. These are not accessories designed to flatter, but sculptural tools for reclamation: to question what beauty is, examine its impact, and honor the body as it is. Made from silicone and copper, the pieces intentionally distort the form of the body part they represent—disrupting our perception and inviting reflection on how we see ourselves. Silicone, being soft and flexible, molds to the body’s natural curves, enhancing the intimate relationship between the jewelry and the wearer. In doing so, the pieces offer a tactile exploration of shame, strength, and self-acceptance.

The photo archive and the book
The photo archive is conformed by over 100 women, aged 20 to 80, who participated in a vulnerable and transformative ritual: photographing the parts of their bodies or parts of womanhood they’ve struggled to love, composing them as something beautiful, and sharing their personal stories. It is a visual and emotional mural that affirms we are not alone in our experiences, inviting us to take a step back and see that our stories are part of the collective impact of a system that doesn’t want us to thrive.

The book is a compendium of all the stories shared in depth, as well as personal experiences and reflections, as well with a collaboration with multiple women who each shared her interpretation of what was the experience of embodying being woman, through poetry, art, painting, music, photography, collage, etc. Inviting people to dive deeper into questioning and observing their own experiences as well as the collective ones.
