On Thursday night 30 October a new generation of fashion designers took centre stage, during SHOWROOM – an immersive fashion exhibition by Willem de Kooning’s third year fashion students.
The academy’s hallway was transformed into an experimental runway and immersive playground, allowing students to explore new visions for the near and distant future of the fashion industry.

The exhibition is an extension of the Me-You-Us Erasmus+ project: EU-funded development programme in collaboration with the University of Ljubljana and Kolding School of Design. At the core of this project lies the recognition that digital tools present a significant opportunity to drive change. Through critical thinking, research, and collaboration with companies at the forefront within the digital field, they focus on using digital technologies to support a more sustainable future in fashion.

The students have started their project with a contradiction – a personal observation in the world around them that shapes their thinking and making as a designer. Using virtual prototyping techniques, each of them developed a capsule collection of two outfits, in which they connect their making to cultural, economic or social issues.
