The Plastic Car

Is it possible to build a car that runs on plastic waste, and is it allowed in the Netherlands?

Apparently so.

The Plastic Car redesigns the infrastructure that shapes our lives. The rooftop de-refinery converts plastic waste to oil that the car runs on. By simplifying these cluttered and complex systems behind our daily lives and bringing the means to an end together, the user becomes part of this infrastructure. As a result, the car brings a new image about desires and the consequences they bring.

The Plastic Car was on display during Dutch Design Week 2023 at Strijp-S, where visitors could take a free ride.
