Design duo Niels van Eijk and Miriam van der Lubbe will receive the Design Prize of the Cultuurfonds Noord-Brabant. According to the jury, their designs act as catalysts for social development. ‘Van Eijk & Van der Lubbe are now shaping our society of tomorrow,’ said jury chairman Fransje Gimbrère.
Ever since starting their design studio in 1998, Van Eijk & Van der Lubbe have been constantly reinventing themselves. Increasingly, their horizons have broadened. From making chairs, tables, bags and clothing to interiors and museum furnishings. And then from interventions in space to the design of social tasks. Designs in many manifestations; image-defining and influential. An eye-catching construction site for the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, the integral redesign of Muziekgebouw Eindhoven and De wereld van VDL; an experience center that uses holograms and illuminated objects to show the unlimited possibilities of this industrial family business. A connecting entrance area for the Van Abbemuseum, an online platform for booking sustainable workspace on location and an inspiration map for tourism of the future: Van Eijk & Van der Lubbe take up the challenge and then put their unique stamp on it.

‘With their pioneering approach, van Eijk & Van der Lubbe have been a source of inspiration for generations of young designers for decades,’ said jury chairman Fransje Gimbrère. The award, which carries a sum of €10,000, will be presented on Saturday, June 14 at Design Museum Den Bosch by Queen’s Commissioner Ina Adema, who is also chairman of theCultuurfonds Noord-Brabant.
